Enhanced residential recycling

Home / News / Enhanced residential recycling

The Sunrise City Commission has approved the implementation of a new program to enhance residential recycling. Under this program, 65-gallon recycling carts with lids will be issued to homes receiving curbside solid waste and recycling collection.
The blue recycling carts will replace the red and blue recycling bins that are currently in use. Each cart has almost double the capacity of two recycling bins, and all recyclables can be thrown into them together without sorting or separating.

The City has also authorized its hauler, All Service Refuse, to partner with RecycleBank – a company that will provide residents with rewards for participating in the recycling program.

In the next few weeks, staff from the City and All Service Refuse will be evaluating all of the communities in Sunrise to make sure that recycling carts are a good fit for each neighborhood. While most residents will love the easy-rolling and attractive wheeled carts, there will be a few areas that may need to continue using the red and blue recycling bins instead of recycling carts.
Sunrise is currently seeking our feedback regarding the carts to be sure that the program can be successful in New Providence. Additional information about the program is available at www.sunrisefl.gov/carts.html. If you have any questions or concerns, please share them with the HOA no later than May 4. Thank you.
